José Manuel Losada

A professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, José Manuel Losada has been a researcher for more than ten years at the universities of La Sorbonne, Harvard, Oxford, Montreal, Durham, and St. Kliment Ohridski (Sofia). He has also taught at the universities of Navarra, Jerusalem, Montpellier, Münster, Munich, Valencia, Guadalajara (Mexico), Tunis, Iceland, and Athens. He has given seminars and keynote lectures at some fifty European and American universities.
He has published twenty-five books of literary criticism in a dozen countries and two hundred articles in specialised journals. The principal investigator (PI) of “Acis, Research Group of Myth Criticism,” founder and editor of “Amaltea, Journal of Myth Criticism,” and president of “Asteria, International Association of Myth Criticism,” José Manuel Losada has directed five national and regional research projects and organised eight international conferences on myth criticism.
J. M. Losada has been the Director of the French Department (2012-17). As Deputy Dean of Research and Doctorate of the Faculty of Philology (2022-present), he is responsible for 9 Doctoral Programmes, with an average of 700 registered and active doctoral students. He represents the Faculty in the Research Commissions (Training Grants, Research Groups) and Doctorate Commissions (Thesis Processing, Doctorate Awards). He also promotes research initiatives such as PhDay and Science Week.
