José Manuel Losada

Professor at Complutense University, José Manuel Losada has conducted his research work for over ten years at universities including La Sorbonne (master’s and doctorate), Harvard, Oxford, Montreal, Durham, and Sofia. He has also taught at the universities of Navarre, Jerusalem, Montpellier, Münster, Munich, Valencia, Guadalajara-Mexico, and Tunis, in addition to seminars and guest lectures at around fifty European and American universities. He has authored twenty-eight books of literary criticism and myth criticism in a dozen European and American countries, as well as two hundred articles in specialized journals from twenty countries.

A member of the editorial board of various publications, José Manuel Losada is the Director of “Acis, the Myth Criticism Research Group,” Founder and Editor of “Amaltea, Journal of Myth Criticism,” President of “Asteria, the International Association of Myth Criticism,” and leads various myth criticism research projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Community of Madrid. He serves as an expert evaluator for various Spanish and European agencies.

Among his management activities at Complutense University, he has served as Coordinator of the Degree in Modern Languages and their Literatures (2011-13), Director of the French Department (2012-2017), and Vice-Dean of Research and Doctoral Studies (2022-). José Manuel Losada has received several prestigious scholarships and various international awards (Giovi. Città di Salerno, Italy, 2011; Aristotle of Thought and Essay, Madrid, 2024; Declaration of Honorable Visitor, Municipality of Bayamón and University of Puerto Rico, 2024).
